1. My project for this month is a series of fabric sewn onto a canvas and then stretched over a wooden frame. I used some little 4x4 square pieces of fabric, thread, and a canvas to make this project. Because I hand-sewed all of the pieces, this project took me a long time. I started in mid to late January and ended right at the end of February.
2. I think that strong part of my project is that it is pretty original. Sometimes I get inspiration from other art projects that I see but this idea was all on my own. (: I think that I did a good job on putting a lot of time and effort into my project and my sewing really reflects that.
3. I think that I could have done a better job on measuring out where the fabric would go. There are a few edges on the canvas that aren't covered up with fabric but oh well.
4. I think that the theme or feeling that I get from this is like a warm, home-y feeling. I always feel much more comforted and cozy when I curl up with a quilt that my grandma has made and I think that my project kinda gives that same feeling.
5. I think that my two elements would be texture and color. The texture of this project is one that can only be achieved by using fabric and that is genuinely soft and cozy. I was very specific on what colors I wanted to use together and I think that it worked out well.
6. My two principles are unity and balance. All of the canvases clearly belong together because they all have the same sort of feel to them. I think that you can see balance in how the fabric is laid out and where the color of fabric is placed. I tried not to have not too much of one color in one spot.
7. The lesson that I learned from this project was that good things happen in time. And sometimes you have to put your blood, sweat, and tears into something to make it really worth while. I literally did put my blood into this project due to stabbing myself repeatedly with the needle. But it looks good!
