January Reflection
1. My project is two 12x12in. canvas and a little 4x4in. canvas that are painted with some 3D effects. On the two bigger blue canvases, I used some little wooden sticks and hot glue to make some "trees." I later added some colorful little birds perched up on the branches. this project didn't take me too long to make at all. My other little painting was done on an old wooden canvas that I was going to use for my December project but didn't. I am going to be switching rooms in my house here pretty soon so I painted dark grey and yellow chevrons to match the new bathroom! I added some glitter because what bathroom doesn't need a little sparkle?!
2.I think the strong parts in my projects are the 3D effects. I think that I did a good job on the precision of the chevron painting.
3. I think I could have done a better job with the two blue paintings overall. I really didn't like it at first but then I improved it to a point where I liked it again. I think I could have done better with the glue dots in shaping them to look more like leaves.
4. There's not really any deep meaning to any of these paintings. I got the tree idea from my grandma's house and the chevron idea from a decorating magazine. I think the unity is probably the bright colors and the boldness.
5. Two elements that are really strong in these paintings are space and color. In the two blue paintings, I not only literally made the branches 3D but I also painted them to appear even more 3D. The colors on both of the paintings are very vibrant and eye-catching.
6. The principles used in these paintings were emphasis and balance. The emphasis is especially on the branches and the birds. the branches stick out (literally) and the birds stand out from the blue theme. The balance is really evident in the chevron painting since everything is evenly spaced. The balance is there but its off in the blue paintings but that is exactly how I wanted it to be!
7. I learned a lot from this project. I learned that I am not always going to be pleased with things that I do but, I can change them to make them better. I think that lesson can be applied both to art and life.
