.:March March March:.
Well March is here and has been all around wonderful. I got the opportunity to go back to Odessa, Ukraine for a mission trip with my youth group and because of that, my March project has been crammed into three weeks rather than four. I am doing a series of five paintings that have the lyrics from "How Deep The Father's Love For Us" which happens to be one of my favorite songs. One of the five paintings has the lyrics and the other four have Jesus' hands, feet, and face painted on them. I used really beautiful and delicate script for the lyrics to contrast the gruesome look of Jesus being crucified. This project took me a while to do mostly because of the letters and all of the details.
My rubric went as follows:
Meeting
-Do a canvas with words from a song that has to do with the crucifixion
-Paint two hands on either side of that canvas with nails in them
Standard
-Add two more paintings showing Jesus' hands and feet
Some of my principles were unity and emphasis. There is unity within all of the paintings because of the red blood and the single red canvas. Emphasis was also a huge part of this project. Each canvas emphasizes a certain thing like the head, hands, feet, or lyrics. The elements that I used were color and value. Color was really important because without the red, it could be anybody. But with the red, you can tell its supposed to be Jesus. Value was also used highly in the hands and feet, I also used some on the edges of the red canvas.
